Sustainable local development goals and strategies

• sustainable environmental, economic, social, cultural, educational, technological and spiritual development in villages and local government units
• protection and restoration of the environment, natural resources and local wisdom
• the combinination of the best of modern and indigenous knowledge and practices, strengthening African solidarity, social capital, and hierarchical stability with democratic practices and modern financial management
• full inclusion of community based associations in the development dialogue and in technology transfer
• opportunities that attract people from the industrialized countries to come and learn from and with Africa, the continent we all originally come from, and to engage with local partners in co-creating sustainable visions, realities and lifestyles
• extension of cell phones and the Internet to all in order to permit Senegal and Africa to participate in the global community, and to permit Senegalese and international knowledge workers to live and work in remote areas
• movements and organizations working towards similar goals, such as the Global Ecovillage Network, Gaia Education, the US Peace Corps and other volunteer agencies, the UNESCO Decade for Sustainable Development Education, the Millenium Development Goals, Education and Health for All and many like-minded agencies, NGOs and other groups.
