Population: The population of Thiaroye is composed of the following ethnic groups; lébou, wolof, puular, diola, and sereer.

Health Care Accessibility: The promotion of the nutritional and medical health of the villagers (PRN)
Regional Challenges: The community is currently struggling with several different issues which include:
An inefficient sanitation system,
Water pollution,
Sonorous pollution (train),
Pollution from, chemicals and pesticides, a growth in poverty
Recent Community Initiatives: The local community has organized itself as an ecovillage to confront these issues and to put in to practice the values of a well functioning ecovillage.
Projects include:
Education (local committee for education which targets the youth in this area)
The identification and promotion of traditional practices
Reforestation projects
Implementation of micro credit projects
Meetings that reinforce capacity-building in several sectors of the village
