Deforestation and the rapid decline of, vegetation in the area, a lack of rainfall and lower crop yields as a result, a lack of biodiversity, the growth of poverty in the region, the absence of social and cultural, infrastructure, problems with harvesting and crop yields in the area
Recent Community Initiatives: The local community has organized itself as an ecovillage to confront these issues and to put in to practice the values of a well functioning ecovillage.
Projects include:
Reforestation techniques with pre-existing species
Reboisement de l’école et 4 bois villageois et le système parrainage (à domicile)
A social program on malaria that has heightened awareness in the local community
The construction of a health clinic
The realization of a project for a community-garden
The creation of a theater troupe
Implementation of micro credit projects
Meetings that reinforce capacity-building in several sectors of the village
